"WINGS" Pilot Proficiency Award Program
The key to safely enjoying your pilot privileges is staying sharp. To stay sharp a pilot must fly frequently and stay in the "training environment." We recommend a dual training session with your instructor at least three times per year to practice skills that aren't frequently used and to keep all your skills and knowledge sharp. The FAA Pilot Proficiency Award Program, otherwise known as the WINGS program, rewards this approach by substituting specified recurrent training for the biennial flight review. To qualify for this reward, a pilot must receive three hours of flight training and attend one FAA sponsored Aviation Safety Meeting in a 12 month period. The flight training is broken into three sessions.
